Campbell’s Bay’s Genevieve Morrison was inducted in the Canada-West hall of Fame

A Campbell’s Bay native, Genevieve (Haley) Morrison was inducted in the Canada-West Hall of Fame Friday, after a decorated Student-Athlete wrestling career for the University of Calgary. From 2007 to 2011, Morrison topped the national podium, claiming the Canada-West gold medal each season, while becoming the first female wrestler to win five consecutive gold medals at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Championships.

Among the achievements of back-to-back CIS and Canada-West most outstanding wrestler honours (2010-2011), Morrison achieved significant international success, including winning gold on in the 48kg weight class at the 2015 Toronto Pan American Games.

As a student-athlete, she represented Canada at the International university sports federation (FISU) World University Championships in 2010 and 2012, winning gold both times. In 2018-2019, Morrison served as assistant coach for the University of Toronto women’s wrestling team.
