Calumet woman arrested in Shawville for impaired driving
Shortly before 6:00 p.m. yesterday (May 1), police officers from the Sûreté du Québec were notified by several citizens that a Ford Focus was driving erratically and committing hit-and-runs in the Municipality of Shawville. Citizens alleged that the suspect vehicle carried out three hit-and-runs on vehicles. Police were able to quickly locate and intercept the vehicle on Dagg Street in Shawville. After certain checks, the police arrested the driver, a 29-year-old woman from l’Île-Du-Grand-Calumet for drug-impaired driving. She was taken to the hospital where a blood sample was taken.
She was later released and is expected to return at a later date at the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse. She could eventually face drug-impaired driving charges. She should also receive statements of offense in connection with the hit-and-runs.
The Sûreté du Québec wanted to thank citizens for their cooperation and invites them to send it any information relating to impaired driving.
