Bruno St-Cyr of Énergie Davidson asks the MRC to intervene to obtain supply guarantees
During the most recent public meeting of the MRC Pontiac on November 23, the spokesperson for Énergie Davidson, Bruno St-Cyr, spoke during the public question period to ask that the MRC pressure the Quebec Government to provide access to the public forest for Pontiac mills. The elected officials mentioned that they agree with the principle, but they also indicated to St-Cyr that there are certain procedures in place. Warden Jane Toller also indicated that, for the moment, Énergie Davidson is not in operation and is currently in the planning stage. She recommended St-Cyr work on his business plan.
Unlike the Commonweatlh Plywood plant, which will open its doors on January 4, Énergie Davidson has not had supply guarantees (known as GAs) for a few years, since they have not been able to pay their rights to the government.
The new Minister of Natural Resources and Forests is Maïté Blanchette Vézina, who is the MNA for Rimouski.
