Norway Bay-Bristol Historical Society celebrates 30 years
On Wednesday afternoon (July 30), the Jack Graham Community Centre in Bristol was packed for the 30th anniversary celebrations for the Norway Bay-Bristol Historical Society. Live music was provided by musicians Gail Gavan and Sherryl Fitzpatrick.
Past president Bonnie Beveridge explained that the group started by collecting histories of the several hundred cottages in Norway Bay, then slowly expanded into other parts of the municipality. Displays were set up on one side of the room with old photos and memorabilia from summers-gone-by in the riverside cottaging community.
She said that they were planning on digitizing their collection in the near future in order to make their archives more accessible.
MRC Pontiac Warden Jane Toller was in attendance and presented the group with a certificate of recognition from the county.
