Breakdown of Temporary Surgery Services at Shawville Hospital: CISSSO Prevention
On Sunday, March 3rd, the Shawville Hospital faced a service outage of 10 hours in general surgery. In response to the unexpected lack on staff surgeons, the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l’Outaouais (CISSSO) stated that this was a temporary and exceptional situation, as indicated by the CISSSO’s Head of Communications and Media Relations, Bruno Desjardins:
The CISSSO also wanted to remind the citizens in the Pontiac that all the surgeon positions have been filled for the Pontiac region. To prevent this situation from reoccurring, Bruno Desjardins explains how the organization will proceed.
On Sunday, CISSSO took the necessary measures to effectively serve the residents of the Pontiac, directing trauma patients to the nearest hospital, depending on the condition of the individual, and the surgeons from the Gatineau and the Hull hospitals coordinated to ensure a continued coverage of the Pontiac clientele.
