Bats, Insects, and Power Outages: Daily Life at the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse
Bats, Insects, and Power Outages: Daily Life at the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse

Exclusive Report from CHIP 101.9
For several months—or even years—users of the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse have frequently encountered insect infestations, as well as birds and bats entering the building. On July 3, after deciding to install sticky insect traps, a bat was accidentally caught instead. This is not the first time such animals have entered the courthouse, located at 30 John Street in Campbell’s Bay. According to testimonies collected by CHIP 101.9, a similar situation occurred in 2024.
These are not the only issues facing the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse. Several users have also reported power outages and a lack of systems to ensure continuity of operations during such events. Speaking anonymously, some occasional users of the courthouse expressed concerns about the future of this institution serving the Pontiac Regional County Municipality.
CHIP 101.9 reached out to the Directorate of Civil and Population Services in Gatineau, as well as to the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse at the Quebec Ministry of Justice, to obtain more information about the situation. As of the publication date, no response had been received.
A photo of the bat that was found in early July is available in an article on CHFM.com.
