A family business in Shawville re-opened on Monday (May 1) after suffering extensive damage in a fire last December.

BAP 148, located on the highway just outside town, contained an auto shop run by Gordon MacGregor, as well as a barber shop and yoga studio run by his wife Peggy Hodgins-MacGregor. While the fire was mainly contained to the shop bays, there was smoke and water damage to the rest of the building. Hodgins-MacGregor said that the timing of the blaze right before the Christmas holidays also complicated things.

Hodgins-MacGregor said that they were able to serve the auto shop’s customers out of their location in Bristol, and said that she rented space in town to service her clients. She said that while the auto shop and the barber shop are open for business, the upstairs yoga loft still needs some work and she hopes to have it open in about a month.

The full interview with Hodgins-MacGregor (3m45) is available here.
