The deputy for Chapleau and parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Justice, Mathieu Lévesque, announced assistance of $ 39,442 for a project intended for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (LGBTQ) communities in the region of the Outaouais. This financial support, granted within the framework of the Fight against homophobia and transphobia program, will promote recognition and respect for the rights of people of sexual or gender diversity in the region.

The Believe project of the Regional AIDS Action Office (BRAS) consists of creating a network of sentinels who will establish contact with men who have sex with men (MSM) who are living or have experienced violence. sexuality in order to support them and refer them to victim support resources, if necessary.

“Local organizations play a leading role in the fight against homophobia and transphobia. They are often the first point of support for citizens. This ninth call for projects, launched in November 2020, invited organizations to present initiatives promoting, in particular, the prevention of sexual violence that may be committed against LGBTQ people as well as the fight against such violence and the realization of violence awareness activities. in intimate relationships among LGBTQ people. To date, 168 community organization projects have received financial assistance totaling over $ 4.1 million.
