André Fortin questioned on his intentions to become a candidate of the LPC in the next federal elections

The MNA for Pontiac, André Fortin, who also occupies the position of parliamentary leader of the Liberal Party of Quebec, was questioned on the possibility of him becoming a candidate for the federal election which is being prepared, in order to replace the current federal deputy for Pontiac, William Amos, of whom there is no news since the incident where he was seen urinating into a coffee cup.

TVA asked André Fortin if he might be interested in joining the ranks of the Liberal Party of Canada. He replied that he was currently the MNA for Pontiac and that provincial politics interests him.

Despite this response, rumors multiplied on June 29. Journalist Antoine Robitaille of the Journal de Montréal even revealed that he had had confirmation from a well-informed source, who said that even if William Amos would like to represent himself, it would no longer be possible given the circumstances.

Mr. Amos would like to be a Liberal candidate again in the next election, but he does not seem to have understood that this will not happen “, said a well-informed source”, reveals Antoine Robitaille, in an article available here.

The two incidents in less than a month involving William Amos, first his appearance naked during a virtual meeting of the House of Commons and the second incident during a meeting where this time he urinated in a coffee cup, have according to some sources, eliminated the possibility of seeing Mr. Amos again as a candidate in the next federal election.
Despite several attempts to speak to the Pontiac Federal Liberal Association, CHIP 101.9 has still not received a response as to what the nomination procedures would be for the federal election which could occur this fall.

Several articles report André Fortin’s proximity to the federal Liberal Party, he who held positions with former Minister Jean Lapierre, then in the office of former Prime Minister Paul Martin. Marlene Floyd, wife of André Fortin, also worked with Justin Trudeau until 2018.
