The decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Outaouais requires, according to the MNA for Pontiac, André Fortin, a reflection on the services offered at the Pontiac Hospital in Shawville. The member for Pontiac believes that the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais should follow up shortly on the status of the obstetrics service in the Pontiac.

“We must have a follow-up on obstetric services and this file is so closely linked to manpower in the Outaouais. If we do not offer better conditions to our health workers in the Outaouais, we will have the same problems. Some nurses are offered bonuses of $ 10,000 to go to work in Ontario, ”says André Fortin

André Fortin believes that the postponement of certain surgeries at the Pontiac Hospital was not necessary. He still believes that the Pontiac Hospital could help make up for the backlogs accumulated in the Outaouais.

“Here at the Pontiac Hospital, we have canceled a lot of surgeries. In my opinion, some surgeries should not have been canceled. For the plan for resuming surgery, we can help make up for it. Some people will have to wait until 2023, that seems long to me and I think that in the Pontiac, we could contribute, ”thinks André Fortin.
