Agreement in principle reached on school transport
A tentative agreement was reached between the government and the Federation of Bus Operators yesterday (August 19). The process is not quite finished, as this six-year agreement must now be presented to the members of the organization so that they can enter into agreements with their respective school service centres. In the Pontiac, they are the Centre de service scolaire des Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais, the Centre de services scolaire des Portages-de-l’Outaouais and the Western Québec School Board.
This agreement comes a few days after the Quebec government appointed a special negotiator.
“This agreement in principle proposes significant investments, promotes greater stability in the school transportation sector, guarantees the safety of students and all in all meets several expectations of school carriers,” indicated Education Minister Jean-Francois Roberge (translated).
Unless there is a major surprise, an agreement should be concluded between the school service centres and the carriers to serve Pontiac students.
