Activities to Mark World Alzheimer’s Day

Activities to Mark World Alzheimer’s Day

3 September 2025 à 3:33 pm

As part of its local awareness efforts around World Alzheimer’s Day—September 21—the Alzheimer Society of Outaouais (SAO) is inviting residents from across the greater Outaouais and Pontiac regions to visit their offices, meet the team, and learn about their fall programming.

The Open House events, held at the society’s two service points, will provide an opportunity to connect with staff and explore the full range of programs and services offered.

Maude Villeneuve-Legros, Clinical Supervisor at the SAO, shared more details:

“We’re holding two open houses: one at our Aylmer office on Friday, September 19, located in the Galeries Aylmer at 181 Principale Street, and another in Gatineau on Monday, September 22. Both events will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.”

Are you a caregiver for someone living with a neurocognitive disorder? Take part in the Cercle des aidants, a coffee-meet gathering held on the first Thursday of every month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at both SAO service points (Gatineau and Aylmer).

Once again, here’s Maude Villeneuve-Legros:

“It’s a support group designed to bring caregivers together, helping to break isolation, share advice and tips, and above all, receive support from peers who live the same reality as we do.”

The Cercle des aidants is also offered in English at the Aylmer service point on the first Tuesday of each month, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Because every door opened is a step toward greater support, hope, and solidarity. Because every meeting matters. Because every act of awareness brings our community closer to better understanding and better care. Together, let’s move the cause forward, one step at a time.

Mark these dates in your calendar today and stay tuned for upcoming announcements at alzheimeroutaouais.ca.
