A resolution to François Legault to express the dissatisfaction of the mayors of the MRC Pontiac
A resolution to François Legault to express the dissatisfaction of the mayors of the MRC Pontiac
Following the decision of the Premier of Quebec, François Legault, who changed the alert zone of the MRC Pontiac from orange to red until January 11, some elected officials reacted to the government’s decision. During the public meeting of the MRC Pontiac, the mayor of Shawville, Sandra Murray, asks that a resolution be sent directly to François Legault to let him know of their dissatisfaction with a decision that she considers unfair to the population.
A resolution should reach François Legault in the coming weeks to convey to him the dissatisfaction of the elected officials of the MRC Pontiac with this decision. MRC Pontiac Warden Jane Toller also issued a press release following the news.
« I have always been extremely proud of the prevention efforts that residents of the Pontiac have made so far for COVID-19. Earlier this week it was thought that we would stay in the orange zone, but with the announcement made yesterday by the Prime Minister, we now know that all orange zones become red zones from December 17th. I believe this decision was based on the need, across the province, to control the exponential increase in cases and to prevent our health care system from being overwhelmed, especially during the holiday season. I am happy to know that many of our businesses will be able to remain open until December 25th and churches will be able to have 25 people to attend services. I know it’s very disappointing, but we’ll get through it together » expressed Warden Jane Toller.
MRC Pontiac offices will be closed to the public
