14 April 2026 à 12:59 pm

A magnitude 4.6 earthquake was recorded on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 12:36 p.m. local time, approximately 41 km north of Arnprior in Renfrew County. The tremor, which lasted about 5 seconds, was felt throughout the Pontiac region all the way to Maniwaki.

According to initial data, the depth of the earthquake has not been precisely determined, but it is believed to have been relatively shallow, which would explain why it was widely felt across the region. Several residents of Québec and the Ottawa Valley reported feeling the shaking.

Earthquakes of this magnitude are generally considered moderate and rarely cause significant damage, but they can be clearly felt near the epicentre.

No major damage has been reported so far.
