Great news for accessibility in Pontiac!

A floating beach wheelchair is now available for loan to people with disabilities who want to enjoy the region’s beaches and waterways more.

The WaterWheels, a wheelchair specially designed to facilitate the transition from sand to water, promotes independence, inclusion, and the enjoyment of summer activities.

The equipment belongs to the Pontiac Access Squad and is loaned through a partnership with Pontiac Transit.

To reserve, contact TransporAction at least 48 hours in advance at 819-648-2223, option 1, or by email at info@transporaction.com.

The wheelchair is located at 1226A, Route 148 in Campbell’s Bay.

Several public beaches in the Pontiac MRC now have access mats to facilitate movement on the sand. Beach wheelchair users will be able to enjoy:

  • Pont Blanc Beach in Mansfield-et-Pontefract;
  • Bryson Municipal Beach;
  • Norway Bay Beach in Bristol.

These improvements help make recreational spaces more accessible and inclusive for people living with a disability or mobility limitation.

An initiative that helps make Pontiac beaches more accessible to everyone!
