Spring marks the launch of the summer programming at the Canadian Museum of Nature, which will offer new exhibitions, immersive films, and several family activities starting May 15th.
Beginning on that date, the museum will be open daily until Labour Day, September 7th, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended hours until 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays.
Among the new features is the exhibition Colourful World, which explores the beauty and science of colour in the natural world. Featuring nearly 200 specimens, audio stories, and immersive spaces, the exhibition shows how living organisms use colour to communicate, attract, or survive.
The museum is also continuing its presentation of the exhibition Life on Land: The Devonian, dedicated to the evolution of the first life forms to emerge from the water. Visitors can notably discover the fossil of Tiktaalik roseae, a transitional species dating back 375 million years. Pierre Poirier from the Canadian Museum of Nature gives us all the details about the new attractions being offered on site for the summer season:
“Starting May 15th, the Colourful World exhibition shows the beauty and science of colours in animals, plants and minerals, open to all ages. Featuring nearly 200 specimens, audio stories, and immersive spaces, the exhibition shows how living organisms use colour to communicate, attract, or survive. Stop by the museum’s theatre to view the new movie Ocean Paradise. On June 5th, the night Nature Nocturne is coming back, with three dancefloors, live artists, opportunity to speak with professionals at the museum, activities in the galleries, special photoshoots and more.”
The museum also continues to offer interactive activities through its “Live Animals!” and “Live Bugs” spaces, where visitors can observe starfish, sea anemones, leafcutter ants, tarantulas, and other fascinating species.
Admission to the Canadian Museum of Nature is free on Thursday evenings between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., except for certain special activities.
