A baseball tournament for a good cause

This weekend a fundraiser in the form of a baseball tournament will take place in Mansfield.

The fundraiser is to raise money for Denise Duval, who was diagnosed with colon cancer last November. The organizer of the event, Terry Charette said the idea of a baseball tournament came as Denise is a big part of baseball in the area, helping out with youth baseball as well as participating in various leagues and tournaments over the years.

The tournament will be played over three days, from Friday July 10th to Sunday July 12th, with 12 teams over two divisions.

The tournament will follow strict social distancing restrictions.

A total of 50 people are allowed at the baseball field at a time, there will be no cantine or bar on site and teams are asked to bring hand sanitizer to avoid the spread of Covid-19.

All the funds from the tournament will go to Denise following the final game on Sunday. There will also be prizes for the top two teams in each division.

If you want to make a donation to the fundraiser, you can contact Terry Charette or drop off the donation at the baseball field, across from the Mansfield municipal office at 300 Rue Principale in Mansfield.
