Fort-Coulonge girl joins Gee-Gees hockey team

Jane McGuire, a young woman originally from Fort-Coulonge was recently named to the uOttawa hockey team, the Gee-Gees. The winger is coming off a successful season with College Universel out of Gatineau, leading the North American Prep Hockey League in points.

She said that its been a long-time goal of hers to join the university’s program, having attended their youth summer camps in the past, and was excited to be selected by their scouts.

McGuire said that while attending university she will be studying psychology with the goal of becoming a primary school teacher. She said that the higher level of competition at the university level would be a big step, but she was aiming to prove she belongs on the squad.
