General visitations paused at Outaouais Hospitals

15 April 2022 à 12:00 am

The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais, announced a ban on hospital visits Friday (April 15, 2022) for the entire Outaouais region, including the Shawville Hospital.

“This is to insure that our most vulnerable patients, health workers and the entire population remains safe during the emergence of another wave of COVID-19. General visits will no longer be permitted in any of the Outaouais’ Hospitals until further notice, however caregivers may still enter the hospitals to help their loved ones, as long as they respect the health measures for caregivers.

“Visitations for humanitarian purposes (visiting a person on the verge of death, for example) will remain possible. On the other hand, no exceptions will be rendered to a caregiver or visitor for humanitarian purposes that presents symptoms of COVID-19 prior to entering an Outaouais hospital,” the CISSS de l’Outaouais specified in a news release on April 15.

The following hospitals have suspended all visits:

· Hôpital de Gatineau

· Hôpital de Hull

· Hôpital de Papineau

· Hôpital de Maniwaki

· Hôpital de Shawville

· Hôpital de Wakefield

“We would like to thank the population for their collaboration in keeping our vulnerable protected during the current wave of COVID-19,” the CISSS de l’Outaouais wrote in a news release.

As of April 15, 2022, the Outaouais region currently has 55 people in hospital, 3 in intensive care, as a result of COVID-19, a significant jump over the last week. To learn more, find the Outaouais stats here.
