530 statements of offense were issued

Here is the report of the large-scale operation on the roads of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) on Thursday (August 20) which took place in the Western District (Mauricie, Lanaudière, Laurentides, Outaouais):

– More than 530 tickets were issued mainly for offenses relating to excessive speed and other offenses, including 44 against motorcyclists;

– More than 70 warnings were issued (including 25 to motorcyclists);

– Hundreds of people were met in awareness raising / prevention.

The SQ mentioned that education, prevention, intervention and communication efforts (EPIC philosophy) will continue. Other activities and actions are already planned by the various posts in the territory.

On reminder :

The SQ has so far listed 39 fatal collisions in these 4 regions since the start of 2020 out of a total of 123 that have occurred in Quebec in SQ territory.

For the Outaouais-Laurentides region, 10 fatal collisions have occurred in 2020 to date.

Two of these 10 collisions involved motorcyclists and they were in the Outaouais. None in the Laurentians.

For the Mauricie-Lanaudière region, 29 fatal collisions have occurred in 2020 to date.

Twelve of these 29 collisions involved motorcyclists (6 in Mauricie between June 14 and July 3/4 in Lanaudière).
