5 cases in Ottawa, 0 in the Outaouais

The latest information released by governments on both sides of the Ottawa River confirms that 5 people are affected by COVID-19 in Ottawa, while no case has been identified at this time in Outaouais.

According to the Public Health consultant in the Outaouais, Dre. Carol McConnery, it is only a matter of time before a case is confirmed in the region:

A total of 21 diagnoses of the virus have been listed in Quebec. In Ontario, the number is 101.

The symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough and difficulty to breathe. The best way to reduce the risk of spread is through basic hygiene measures such as:
• Wash your hands regularly with warm running water and soap for at least 20 seconds;
• Use an alcohol-based disinfectant if you do not have access to soap and water;
• Observe the rules of hygiene when coughing or sneezing such as coughing in the elbow;
• Avoid bringing your hands to your mouth, eyes and nose.

A COVID-19 screening clinic was opened this Saturday morning at 135, boulevard St-Raymond, in Gatineau (Hull). The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais plans to perform up to 400 screening tests per week.

Users must contact 1-877-644-4545 to obtain an appointment at the clinic. It is not possible to go directly there without authorization.
