25-year old Campbell’s Bay man drowns near Otter Lake Saturday evening
The body of a young man was pulled from the water in a lake in the Municipality of Otter Lake on Sunday afternoon (July 13), after he was reported missing on Saturday evening.
According to Sûreté du Québec Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, the 25-year old man from Campbell’s Bay was swimming with friends and went missing while trying to cross a lake to reach a platform. The unnamed lake is located between Pelletier Road and Route 301. Police have not released the name of the victim at this time.
The man was reported missing around 9 p.m. and firefighters from the Otter Lake Fire Department responded to try and locate the victim, who was reportedly not wearing a lift jacket. Residents joined in the search with their own boats that evening, but the victim was eventually found by SQ divers the following day.
The SQ is continuing its investigation into these events.
