24 Affordable Housing Units Announced in L’Isle-aux-Allumettes

26 August 2025 à 8:27 am

The governments of Canada and Quebec have announced the first eleven projects and the selected consortiums that will deliver a first round of rapidly constructed, highly prefabricated housing units for low- and modest-income households. Among the projects confirmed is the Habitations L’Isle-aux-Allumettes initiative, led by the non-profit Habitations de l’Outaouais métropolitain, which will see the construction of a 24-unit building.

In total, 11 projects across different regions of Quebec, representing 336 units, are expected to be completed by the summer of 2026.

The investment comes through Quebec’s Affordable Housing Program (PHAQ). The highly prefabricated units will be built using $992 million in federal funding allocated to Quebec under the Canada–Quebec Housing Accelerator Fund agreement, along with matching new investments announced by Quebec in its 2023 and 2024 economic updates. Further details on the affordable housing project in the Upper Pontiac will be released soon.
