A grant of $ 150,000 has been awarded to the Municipality of Pontiac by the Jays Care Foundation to improve the baseball field located at the Luskville Recreation Park. The news was announced on Tuesday night by Foundation Executive Director Robert Withchel during a Blue Jays game in Toronto.

The municipality is one of 16 Canadian communities to be awarded the “Field of Dreams 2018” grant.

Mayor Joanne Labadie said in a statement yesterday that “we are very proud and grateful for this contribution, which aims to increase access to baseball for our youth, which will benefit all enthusiasts of this sport. This contribution confirms to some extent that we did our homework well by consulting and developing an investment plan”

The $ 150,000 contribution from the Jays Care Foundation will cover a significant portion of the costs to improve the Luskville baseball field. Community Life and Recreation agent Meghan Lewis says that improvements will be made for the safety of the fields in relation to lightning.

The next step for the municipality is to compile the financial amounts with the result of other grant applications, in order to begin the rehabilitation of the Luskville Park in the summer of 2018.
