11 cases confirmed at the Gatineau Hospital
The first results of the massive COVID-19 screening carried out at the Gatineau Hospital this week confirm 11 positive cases. Some units were placed in administrative segregation last week after a few cases were observed in patients and employees.
Partial results indicate that of the 11 confirmed cases, 5 are patients and 6 are employees.
“The screening tests also returned 352 negative results for both employees and hospital patients. These results are preliminary as we are still waiting for a small part of the results,” said the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais in a press release.
The COVID-19 screening operation at the Gatineau Hospital has been underway since May 1st. On Monday, the CISSS de l’Outaouais informed that patients suffering from the virus had been transferred to the designated COVID-19 center of the Hull Hospital and that the 4 affected units of the Gatineau Hospital were in administrative segregation.
The Outaouais so far had 322 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region, less than 5 of which are in the Pontiac RLS. No case was observed in the MRC Pontiac.
