Charity drag show coming to Fort-Coulonge on March 12
Following the success of the first two drag shows in the Pontiac late last year, Downtown Drag Events is planning an even bigger spectacle of comedy, music and fashion in Fort-Coulonge on March 12.
Organizer Matthew Armour said that his first two shows at Café Downtown sold out 35 minutes after the tickets went on sale and he hoped by moving to a bigger venue at the Knights of Columbus Hall that more people would get to experience the unique performance.
He explained that the event was a fundraiser for the arena in town, the Centre de Loisir des Draveurs Century 21 Élite, who are currently dealing with some financial adversity.
Armour said that attendees would be in for a treat, as he had managed to book Icesis Couture, who is coming off a recent win on the second season of reality TV show Canada’s Drag Race.
For those that are new to drag shows, Armour said that they can expect a lively performance of comedy and music featuring plenty of outrageous costumes. The event is for those 18 years of age and up, and alcohol will be served on site. Proof of vaccination is required for entry.
Armour said that since public health restrictions on indoor events had eased, he had another block of 150 tickets to sell. He said that the first block of 200 had gone quickly, so those looking to get them shouldn’t delay. Tickets are $40 and are available at: Café Downtown, Salon rue Baume, MB Salon as well as CHIP 101.9’s office.
