Local non-profit group Connexions Resource Centre will be hosting a free networking event on the morning of Saturday February 8 to help connect Pontiacers to the numerous health and social services available in the area. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Pontiac High School in Shawville (455 rue Maple).

Shelly Heaphy, community outreach coordinator with Connexions, said that while her organization’s mission is primarily to promote health and well-being in the English-speaking community, the event will be fully bilingual. The main presentation from regional health authority CISSSO will focus on the provincial 811 hotline service.

She added that in addition, there will be kiosks from more than 30 community organizations and regional services, from the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi du Pontiac to l’EntourElle, to Le Patro. She said that the goal would be to make the event a recurring one, taking place in different locations throughout the region.
