Year in the rear-view: André Fortin looks back on 2024
With the end of 2024 fast approaching, Pontiac MNA André Fortin stopped by CHIP 101.9’s studio for a discussion of the provincial issues that impacted the region over the past 12 months.
A good portion of the discussion dealt with the health care issues facing the region, from the fight over imagery technician bonuses over the summer, to the recent directive from the government for regional health authority CISSSO to cut $90 million in expenses over the next few months.
Fortin also spoke about the upcoming closure of the Commonwealth Plywood mill in Rapides-des-Joachims, noting a number of issues facing the region’s forestry sector.
Fortin said that looking ahead next year, he’s very concerned with the release of new flood maps for the area, which he said could have some adverse effects on those with property near the waterfront.
