Construction Dany Ladouceur shop destroyed by fire

2 December 2024 à 12:48 pm

A shop belonging to Fort-Coulonge company Construction Dany Ladouceur went up in smoke early Saturday (November 30), with the building and much of the equipment in it a total loss.

Owner Dany Ladouceur, himself a member of the Fort-Coulonge Fire Department, said that they got the call at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday and the building, located at 639 rue Baume, was fully involved when they arrived. Ladouceur said that he and his brother had purchased the shop in 2020, after renting it for several years and they used it to store tools as well as off-road vehicles and other items. He said that it was too early to estimate the amount lost, but confirmed that they had insurance for the building and a portion of its contents.

Capt. Michel Fortin of the Fort-Coulonge Fire Department, said that they as well as the Mansfield-et-Pontefract department responded with five trucks and roughly 30 firefighters, and they were on scene until about 10 a.m. ensuring no flare-ups occured. He said that the cause of the blaze was under investigation.

Ladouceur said that luckily his tool trailer was outside the shop, and hoped there would be minimal disruption to the jobs he and his three employees currently have on the go.

Ladouceur said that there is a GofundMe circulating on social media for a friend of his who was storing equipment in the shop that wasn’t insured. He gave a big thank-you to the firefighters from both Fort-Coulonge and Mansfield who responded to the call.
