La Pêche celebrates the official opening of its new town hall
The Municipality of La Pêche has inaugurated its brand new town hall, an ambitious and groundbreaking project that marks a historic milestone for the community and the sustainable construction sector. This town hall, which will be the first institutional Passivhaus building in Quebec once certified, embodies the municipality’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation.
The event, which was attended by elected officials, professionals, artists, and financial partners, began with a warm welcome, followed by official speeches and the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Guillaume Lamoureux, in the presence of Papineau MNA and Minister Responsible for the Outaouais Mathieu Lacombe, Gatineau MNA Robert Bussière, Pontiac MP Sophie Chatel and MRC des Collines Warden Marc Carrière. Following these inauguration, the guests had the opportunity to discover the artwork La Traverse, created by the artist Lisa Creskey. This unveiling is part of a desire to promote local art and enrich the experience of this unique place.
The new town hall is a building with an area of over 1,400 square meters spread over two levels. Designed with solid wood and high energy efficiency, it incorporates the latest innovations in sustainable construction, while aiming for Passivhaus certification, an international standard that guarantees optimal energy performance. The municipality wanted this building to be not only a workplace for municipal employees but also a friendly and accessible space for citizens.
This project was carried out with the financial support of several government programs amounting to over $6.1 million.
