French school board offering reimbursement for student transportation
The Center de services scolaire des Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais (CSSHBO) announced in a press release on May 24 that they would be offering financial compensation to parents forced to drive their children to school due to the ongoing school bus driver strike.
“The amount paid is calculated according to the CSSHBO Travel Expenses Policy. This amount is $0.52 per kilometer actually traveled from your home to school, morning and evening, for each day of attendance at school since May 1, 2023,” the statement notes.
Parents must fill out a form (available below) that they will be receiving every Friday until the end of the school year.
“We are aware that this situation is a source of stress for many students and many families,” the statement concludes. “This is why a temporary and exceptional measure has been put in place.”
The form to apply for compensation is available here.
