5 days after freezing rain: the MRC Pontiac now has the highest number of customers without electricity in the Outaouais

10 April 2023 à 8:39 am

Even though the population of the MRC Pontiac is the smallest in the Outaouais, it is in the Pontiac that the number of power outages is the highest in the Outaouais. Despite some improvement, on Easter Monday there were still about 3,000 (2898 at 8:45 am) Hydro-Quebec customers who did not have access to electricity.

In total at 8:45 a.m., 2,898 out of 12,658 customers were reported to still have no power in the Pontiac. Elsewhere in the Outaouais, 1,597 customers out of 29,573 in the MRC des Collines (including the Municipality of Pontiac), had no electricity, this number stood at 1,344 customers out of 144,626 in Gatineau. The Vallée-de-la-Gatineau region had 118 customers without electricity and only 25 in the MRC Papineau. The breakdown report for the Outaouais is available here.

At 8:45 am Monday morning, the municipalities of Bristol (670), Clarendon (582), Otter Lake (609), Thorne (556), Litchfield (222) have the highest number of Hydro-Québec customers without electricity in the MRC Pontiac. The complete report in the MRC Pontiac is available here. The situation has greatly improved in the Municipality of Pontiac, located in the MRC des Collines, with now 360 customers without electricity.

Take note, as mentioned earlier this morning on CHIP 101.9 radio, some Hydro-Quebec customers in the Pontiac could wait until Tuesday to get electricity.
