Flying Elbows hockey tournament returns to Shawville
The Flying Elbows hockey tournament returned to the Shawville arena this weekend, bringing out 16 teams across two divisions from Thursday to Saturday.
In the A Division final, the Danford Lakers downed the Micksburg Bulls 1-0 to claim the James Smith Memorial Trophy, while in the B Division the Benders beat the Puck Pirates 4-0 for the Bryan Murray Memorial Trophy.
Organizer Will Armitage told CHIP 101.9 that he was pleased with the turnout this year.
Armitage said that it was still too early to say how much the tournament raised but noted that it was similar to years past. He said that they were still discussing what they would like to put the money towards at the arena. He thanked all the volunteers and groups that helped out over the weekend.
