According to delegation officials, the athletes representing the Outaouais region performed brilliantly at the 2023 Quebec Games (Jeux du Québec) in Rivière-du-Loup.
In total, the Outaouais won 33 medals – 9 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze – 10 medals in cross-country skiing, 6 in diving and 7 in gymnastics. The Outaouais’ men’s curling team had a noteworthy performance, winning bronze for the first since 1983. Among other outstanding performances, Vincent Turbide was awarded the sportsmanship medal won in diving, and the Outaouais’ cross-country skiing teams were given the sportsmanship banner.
Our two Pontiac athletes, Teo Chalitta of Shawville and Aude Croteau of the Luskville in the Municipality of Pontiac, won silver in the team Trampoline and Gymnastics Omnium event – Total events discipline.
“I was impressed by the strength of character and team spirit of our young people. Beyond the incredible performances, the positive attitude and ethics of our group were repeatedly noticed everywhere we went. I would also like to highlight the quality and professionalism of our sports staff. I had the chance to meet people with heart, passion, and the well-being of their athletes. The Outaouais does not have to envy the other regions of Quebec; quite the contrary.” – Charles-André Larocque, head of the delegation and program coordinator of Loisir sport Outaouais.
All eyes are now on Rimouski for the 57th Quebec Games Final this summer.
