Thorne councillor Robert Charette passes away
At the MRC Pontiac council of mayors meeting last night (February 15), Thorne pro-Mayor Robert Wills announced that his colleague, councillor Robert Charette had passed away.
Speaking after the meeting, Wills said that Charette had lived in the municipality and been active in the community for many years and his experience would be sorely missed.
Charette also served as the Director General for Thorne for 20 years, starting in 1983 and during that time was a co-founder of the Ladysmith Volunteer Fire Department. More recently, Charette was elected to council seat five in 2017 and was re-elected to the position in 2021.
