Trail groomer burned near Campbell’s Bay

6 February 2023 à 1:12 pm

A tractor grooming the snowmobile trails near Campbell’s Bay was destroyed in a fire on Sunday (February 5). No one was injured.

Shawville-Clarendon Fire Chief Lee Laframboise said that his department received the call at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon that a groomer had caught fire on a section of the PPJ trail parallel to Morehead Road. They responded with two trucks and eight firefighters, and had the blaze under control within about half an hour of arriving. He said that they also applied foam on the vehicle to prevent anything from reigniting. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The Pontiac Snowmobile Driver’s Association (PSDA), the club responsible for this section of the trail, put out a Facebook message warning trail users about the burned out tractor on the trail and said that they would be removing it.
