Shawville and area Angel Tree program kicks off
With Christmas approaching, the organizers of the Shawville and area Angel Tree program have just kicked off their annual toy drive. One of the organizers, Megan Coleman, explained how she and several other moms from the area took over the program last year from the group that used to organize it. She added that last year, they helped more than 50 children, coming from around 25 families.
She said that trees will be available at both the Giant Tiger in Shawville as well as Stedmans V&S, where participants can select the age and gender of the children they want to purchase gifts for. There will also be bins there for participants to drop off their gifts as well. The deadline to register a child is December 9 and the deadline for donations will be December 12. The gifts will be delivered closer to Christmas.
