Impératif français calls for investigation of “Quebec residents who pay their taxes in Ontario”
The president of francophone advocacy group Impératif français, Jean-Paul Perrault, spoke with CHIP 101.9 about his demand that the provincial government crack down on citizens who, according to him, reside in Quebec but pay their taxes in Ontario. Perrault said that the provincial government is to some extent complicit in the situation.
“They are quite easy to recognize, Mr. Carrier, because, first of all, unlike Quebecers, you see them coming because there is a plate on the front,” he said (tr.). “And, that is why we tell the Government of Quebec that in the region, people are tired of paying other people’s taxes. They are tired of living in a situation where the government is itself complicit.”
The group sent a letter to local politicians as well as those in Quebec City, asking them to intervene. The full (French-language) interview with Perrault is available here.
