Former des Collines Warden Green seeks LPQ nomination

The former mayor of Chelsea and Warden of MRC des Collines, Caryl Green will be seeking the nomination for the Liberal Party of Quebec in the riding of Gatineau. Speaking to CHIP 101.9, she explained why she decided to put her name forward.

“With my ten years of experience as mayor of Chelsea, I see a certain continuity in presenting myself as a candidate for the Liberal Party for the riding of Gatineau and that is to continue to give back to my community and to support the citizen groups who want to advance certain projects,” she said (tr.). “For me, one of my strengths is listening to people and trying to find ways to support them.”

Green has recently worked for the office of the federal deputy for Pontiac, Sophie Chatel. She also stressed the importance of transforming the riding’s economy to focus more on green technologies.

“There is also another issue that I want to work on as a candidate, if elected, and that is to give the tools, the means to municipalities to prepare for climate change and to make a transition to the green economy,” she said (tr.). “So, for me, it’s based on my experience with a view to the future. There are concrete projects that have not progressed in recent years. With the announcement of the Gatineau hospital, there are concerns for the future of the Maniwaki hospital, Wakefield, even Shawville. So the health service in the regions must continue.”
