At around 8:21 p.m. on February 28, a woman in her 50s was travelling eastbound on Hwy. 148 when her vehicle was struck by a chunk of ice that had dislodged from a truck driving the opposite direction. The ice smashed through her windshield and struck the woman in the face. She managed to stop her vehicle and call emergency services. She was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The incident took place near 3152 Hwy. 148.

MRC des Collines police said in a statement that the driver of the vehicle at fault likely didn’t realize they caused an accident. They urged motorists to thoroughly clean their vehicles before driving and reminded the public that not doing so is a punishable offence under the Quebec highway safety code.
