Indoor dining returns Monday

26 January 2022 à 12:00 am

At a press conference yesterday (January 25) Premier François Legault announced that several public health restrictions would be easing, starting next week.

Indoor dining was one of the activities that will resume on Monday January 31, with limits on tables to four people from different addresses or two family bubbles. Vaccination passports will also be required and capacity will be limited to 50%. Restaurants will have to stop serving alcohol at 11 p.m. and close at midnight.

The Premier tempered this announcement by urging caution and restraint.

“The idea is to go gradually, cautiously,” he said (tranlsated). “As we say in Quebec, take it easy.”

In addition, all extracurricular activities at schools and CEGEPs will return on January 31, though proof of vaccination is required for those over 13. Outside of school, youth sport (under 18 years-old) is allowed to resume practices with a max of 25 people, but competitions are prohibited.

Other venues like museums, aquariums or cafeterias at ski chalets can also re-open at 50% capacity.

More changes coming February 7

Theatres will be able to open the following Monday, February 7, at half-capacity with a cap of 500 per room.

Places of worship will also be allowed to re-open, at half-capacity with a max of 250 people, and proof of vaccination will be required, except for funerals, which will be capped at 50 people.

Please note that until in-person services resume, Sunday masses at St-Pierre Parish in Fort-Coulonge will be broadcast on CHIP 101.9 at 10:30 a.m.

The government has not given any indication when gyms, bars or casinos will be allowed to open their doors.
