Fort-Coulonge woman fined for insulting a police officer during traffic stop

This past Sunday (November 13) at around 10:30 a.m. a 35-year-old woman from Fort-Coulonge was stopped on Hwy. 148 in the Municipality of Pontiac for travelling 124 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.

When the officer approached her window, the woman began to swear at and insult them, according to a statement from MRC des Collines Police. In addition to a fine of $227 and 3 demerit points for speeding, the woman also received an additional $500 ticket for violating a municipal bylaw regarding insulting police officers.

“It is important to understand that our police officers are only doing their job by enforcing the laws and regulations in force and that for some time we have noticed an increase in speeding on Highway 148 and we have said publicly that we are PRESENT. So slow down,” the police statement reads.
