With election day coming up this Sunday (November 7), CHIP 101.9 is closing out its election coverage with the warden’s race in MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, which includes the Municipality of Pontiac. This is the first time that the warden has been chosen through universal suffrage and there are three candidates: outgoing Warden and Chelsea Mayor Caryl Green, former Chapleau MNA Marc Carrière and former Au-cœur-des-Vallées School Board President Éric Antoine.

Green, who served three terms as mayor, said that one of her priorities would be to have an emergency plan in place in regards to climate change. She pointed to the flooding and tornado in the Municipality of Pontiac as an example.

Antoine has repeatedly insisted on the importance of buying local and sustainable development.

Carrière also referred to climate change, but also pointed out that the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais is one of the ones in Quebec which is experiencing one of the greatest demographic growth.
