Eddie McCann is seeking another term as the mayor of the Municipality of Pontiac, running against current mayor Joanne Labadie and another former mayor, Roger Larose.

McCann said that he’s running this year because of his extensive history with municipal politics makes him a good candidate for the job.

McCann said that the biggest priority for him was the municipality’s extensive road infrastructure, which he said is in a major state of disrepair. He added that in the short term, they need to spend the majority of their time improving problem areas.

In the longer term, McCann said that he would like to see the Municipality of Pontiac join the MRC Pontiac, as he sees the MRC des Collines, where they are currently situated, as too “Gatineau-based”. He said that both MRC’s have told him that they will respect the municipality’s wishes in this regard.
