Warden candidates in discussion with CHIP 101.9

22 October 2021 à 12:00 am

The two candidates for warden of MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller and Mike McCrank, took part in a filmed discussion hosted by CHIP 101.9 on October 21. McCrank reiterated that the reason he was re-entering municipal politics because he thought the council of mayors was divided and not working together. Toller objected to that characterization, pointing out that council was only divided on a single issue, the contract renewal for forestry consultant Pierre Vézina, which had been voted on several times.

McCrank countered by saying that there was room for improvement.

Despite this disagreement, the candidates agreed on several subjects. Support for the forestry industry and the importance of sustainable, green development were things they were both in favour of.

In her closing remarks, Toller went over her four years in the warden’s chair, referencing the 2019 floods and the COVID-19 pandemic.

McCrank concluded by reiterating his campaign slogan, “I’m in it for you”.

The discussion with the candidates for warden of MRC Pontiac is available here and will be published on our Facebook page as well.
