Sandra Armstrong seeks the mayor’s seat in Mansfield

14 October 2021 à 12:00 am

After outgoing Mansfield-et-Pontefract Mayor Gilles Dionne revealed that he wouldn’t be seeking re-election, councillor Sandra Armstrong decided that she would put her name forward to replace him. She will face off against former Mayor Kathleen Bélec, who held the seat from 2013 to 2017.

Armstrong mentioned that she wanted to continue the work started since her election as a councillor in 2017. She cited, among other things, the relaunch of the Davidson industrial site.

“I am always ready to take on challenges. It is certain that there will be challenges if I win my place at the town hall. Challenges don’t scare me … Let’s say the last four years I’ve had a lot of experiences. I take my hat off to Mr. Dionne because he was an excellent mayor. He had a lot of respect for people and listened to a lot of people,” Armstrong said.

CHIP 101.9 will be hosting a discussion between Armstrong and Bélec which will be broadcast on the radio October 20 at noon.

The full (French-language) interview with Armstrong is available here.
