The CISSS de l’Outaouais seeks to increase the vaccination rate in Pontiac
Regional health authorities are seeking to increase the vaccination rate in the Pontiac by making the process as conveinant as possible.
Mobile vaccination clinics are coming to the Pontiac, with one taking place in Fort Coulonge tomorrow (August 12) and another one next week on August 17 in Otter Lake. There will also be one stationed at the Shawville Fair over the Labour Day weekend. In addition to the vaccination centre at the Campbell’s Bay RA Hall, numerous pharmacies throughout the region are also offering jabs.
Nicole Chaput, assistant for proximity services in the Pontiac at the CISSSO said that, at the moment, MRC Pontiac has the lowest rate of vaccination in the region, particularly among the young adult crowd (18-35).
Chaput said that while there haven’t been active cases in the Pontiac sector for quite some time, that is no reason to be complacent. She pointed out that it took some time for the virus to arrive in the Pontiac initially, and said that rising case counts in other regions should cause concern.
Details on mobile clinics
August 12 – Golden Age Club, 566 rue Baume Fort Coulonge – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
August 17 – Otter Lake Recreation Centre, 392 rue Tessier – 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Residents can show up to these clinics for a first or second dose, with or without an appointment. Chaput said they should also bring their health card and in the case of a second dose, they should remember the date of their first jab.
