The Municipality of Campbell’s Bay aims to remain “age-friendly”

The Municipality of Campbell’s Bay issued a press release on July 20 stating that they want to remain an “age-friendly” municipality, a designation they have held since 2012. At the beginning of the year, they announced that they would be taking steps to extend this designation, which is the result of an international project with the World Health Organization. The program aims to encourage active participation of seniors in their communities through the adaptation of various services and infrastructure.

The lead councillor on this file, Jean-Pierre Landry, detailed the steps they were taking to maintain that accreditation in a French-language interview with CHIP 101.9.

« With the new policy, we also want to create a living environment that connects the generations and invites the young people of today to want to age at home in Campbell’s Bay. We are talking about initiatives such as ensuring the addition of information dedicated to seniors on our website, planning to add shuffleboard and horseshoe games near the ball field, in short, initiatives that could make Campbell’s Bay stand out », Landry explained.

A steering committee, made up of different experts and stakeholders will work to draft a new policy and action plan for the municipality. Residents will be invited to participate through surveys and public meetings.
