During the press conference of the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais, the director of public health, Dr Brigitte Pinard, highlighted the many cases of COVID-19 that have been added in the Pontiac.

“What we see in the field is very high transmission speed and attack rate within a single bubble.” We also see people who have more symptoms, even after 10 days. The variant from the United Kingdom has an effect on the territory. In the Pontiac, which was a very stable region for a long time, what we are seeing and what has happened is a major outbreak. We see that in the family or in the workplace, the transmission is rapid, ”said Dr. Brigitte Pinard.

Despite the health security measures which have therefore been reinforced, the closure of schools and the curfew which fell to 8 p.m., the Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, expressed concern about the situation. Public health reiterated that it was monitoring the situation very closely.

“We hope to see a quick turnaround, but it could continue.” We are in constant discussion with the Pontiac authorities and the warden for this situation, ”said Dr. Brigitte Pinard.
