“COVID-19 has profoundly transformed access to and use of public spaces, as these spaces create important connections in our communities. They play a major role in making our communities safe, vibrant and connected. The Healthy Communities Initiative is an investment to help communities create and adapt public spaces in order to respond to the new realities of COVID-19, “says Josée Girard.

As Josée Girard explains, the program is offered through Community Foundations of Canada, the Urban Institute of Canada and the Government of Canada, to support organizations that, with creativity and ingenuity, develop solutions to enable equitable access. and safe in public spaces, while respecting public health measures.

“The Healthy Communities Initiative is looking for innovative projects that will help strengthen the resilience of our public spaces and those who use them, with particular attention to vulnerable people who have been hit hardest by consequences of the pandemic, ”explains Josée Girard.
